The Remote Replay Recorder is a simple and efficient solution for recording and analyzing replays from Unity 2D games. It is designed to be lightweight, making it suitable for soft launches in areas with limited internet connectivity. The system records prefab IDs, properties, and other relevant data, which can be compressed and sent remotely. The Replay Viewer allows you to download and watch replays within the Unity Editor. The package includes a sample game and a PDF manual for quick start guidance.
The system has some limitations, including support for 2D games only and the use of Firebase Storage for remote saving. Currently, only Prefabs with SpriteRenderer or Tilemap can be replayed, with other object types being recorded but displayed as a filled circle during replay.
