Voxel Map Builder for Unity

This package is designed to speed up the process of creating and refining map designs. It allows you to create a map base and place 3D tiles on top of it. You can use it for prototyping new map designs or tracing out preexisting meshes and textures into voxel maps.

To get started, attach the MapBuilder script to an empty game object. Then, you can toggle the 'Enter / Exit edit mode' button to start or stop editing. You can also tweak the MapBuilder component in the inspector to customize its settings.

To use the tool, follow these steps:

  • Left-click an empty grid cell to instantiate the currently selected tile prefab at that location.
  • Right-click a previously placed tile to destroy it.
  • Left-mouse-drag to draw a path onto which tiles will be instantiated once the drag ends.
  • Right-mouse-drag to delete all tiles of the same type of the one over which the mouse cursor is at the onset of the drag.

For a more comfortable working experience, it's recommended to set the scene view to isometric and select the top view when starting to work on a map.
