Bake AO is a powerful tool for improving the visual depth of 3D models in Unity. It allows you to bake ambient occlusion textures within the editor, reducing the need for external software and streamlining your workflow. With Bake AO, you can customize settings per model, work entirely within Unity, and achieve realistic and detailed visuals. It's ideal for games that use ambient lighting and shadows, and can improve visual clarity even with subtle AO applications.
Key features include:
- Fast baking process using GPU
- Background baking for multitasking
- Multi-object baking for streamlined workflow
- Automatic AO texture setting with the BakeAO component
- Non-destructive workflow with parameter reuse
- Integrated with Unity presets for consistent results
- Baking in scene context for optimal results
- Detailed parameterization for custom visuals
- Baking for different UV sets
- User-friendly interface with a baking wizard
- Active task management
- Custom shaders and Amplify Shader Editor support
Note: Bake AO is not a scene lightmapper and cannot replace built-in light baking. It's designed for creating ambient occlusion textures for models in the project.
Supported OS: Windows, MacOS
Supported GPUs: NVidia, AMD, Intel, and Apple GPUs with at least 2GB of VRAM and Shader Model 5.0
Supported Unity Versions: 2021.3 or newer
Supported Render Pipelines: Built-in, URP
Textures can also be baked in HDRP, but the BakeAO component for automatic texture setting is not supported on HDRP, and no shaders for HDRP are included.
Project adjustments: To fully utilize the features of the BakeAO component, you need to use shaders included with BakeAO or adjust custom shaders.
