Luma Based Ambient Occlusion 2 (SSAO 2D) is a full-screen image effect that creates a depth shading or relief feeling in 2D images. It works by analyzing color information and can be used in 2D scenes where no depth information is available. This effect can also be used in 3D scenes, but a depth-based AO solution like HBAO is recommended for better results. The effect is compatible with orthographic and perspective cameras, 2D, transparent objects, and particles, and features color bleeding and directional occlusion control. A demo scene is included for testing and experimentation.
Works with built-in and URP pipelines, supports orthographic and perspective cameras, and is compatible with 2D, transparent objects, and particles. URP version requires Unity 2021.3+. Also supports the new URP Render Graph.
