Rapid Terrain Generation for Unity

Terrain Wizard is a Unity Asset that integrates with Unity's Terrain Tools to rapidly prototype terrains that conform to a manually created design layout. It uses a combination of procedural and manual generation to create detailed and immersive environments in a more efficient manner. With Terrain Wizard, you can generate hundreds of terrains within minutes, select the best, and get them into playtesting fast.

The tool provides a simple workflow with three levels of complexity: 'Get me going, now', 'Let me tweak a little', and 'I know what I want, help me get it'. This allows designers to quickly and easily create complex and detailed terrain, without the need for labor-intensive manual design.

Terrain Wizard is integrated with Unity's Terrain Tools, providing designers with a high level of control and flexibility to fine-tune the terrain and create the desired gameplay experience based on playtesting.

The package includes everything you need to start building terrains, including sample biomes, 4K textures, stamps, and terrain masks. It also includes a simple UI that is built into the same UI as all the other Unity Terrain Tools, with no separate workflow to learn.

Primary Features:

  • Create fully textured terrains rapidly from just a sketch of the layout you need
  • Adjust terrain generation at many different levels of detail
  • Use one of the many biomes included for generation and texturing
  • A small set of 4K textures are included to get you started
  • Create your own unique biomes using any Heightmap Stamp and/or Terrain Layer
  • Add an included Sky and lighting setup
  • Use the FlyCam to explore the terrain at runtime
  • Fine tune terrain generation using any Unity Terrain Tool

Known Limitations:

  • Does not currently work with multitile terrains
  • Currently there is no in-editor tooling for creating the Terrain Mask
  • Only 2021 and later LTS releases of Unity are guaranteed to work
